These bespoke handrails were made for the entrance of a traditional home — a project that called for strength, simplicity, and a design that would sit naturally within its architectural surroundings. Every element was crafted by hand in our workshop, using solid mild steel and traditional blacksmithing techniques.

The purpose of these handrails is straightforward: to provide safe, reliable support as people enter and exit the home. But function doesn’t have to come at the expense of good design. The shape and placement of these railings were carefully considered to ensure they work well for daily use — whether that’s a child learning to climb steps, an elderly visitor needing balance, or simply someone carrying groceries.
The handrail follows the natural lines of the stone steps and wraps neatly around the landing with a soft, continuous curve. This gentle turn is more than just a design feature — it helps guide the hand smoothly along the railing, making it easier and more comfortable to use.
Built with Strength and Longevity in Mind
Each section of the railing is formed from solid steel bar, heated and shaped by hand. The vertical uprights are evenly spaced to provide structural support and prevent falls, while keeping the overall appearance open and visually light. The fixings are discreet and strong, designed to hold the railings firmly in place without drawing attention.
We finished the railings in a classic matte black, which not only enhances the crisp silhouette but also provides a durable protective coating against weather and wear.
A Style That Fits the Setting
The home itself features period detailing — including a panelled front door and traditional stonework — so the design of the railings needed to be respectful of that character. Rather than introduce ornamentation, we focused on clean lines and strong proportions that quietly complement the space.
